Final chance to register to vote

Don't forget to register this weekend to vote if you haven't done so already.

FINAL registration for the 2014 National and Provincial General Elections will take place this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, 8 and 9 February between 8am and 5pm at your chosen voting station.

To register you need to be a South African citizen and in possession of a bar-coded SA identity book, the new SA identity smart card or a valid SA temporary identity document and be sixteen or older. Only those 18 years or older are eligible to vote in the upcoming election.

All 4747 voting stations throughout the province will be open with 9500 staff recruited to ensure things run smoothly.

The provincial Electoral officer, Mr Mawethu Mosery said, “I would like to encourage all eligible voters in the province to come out in their numbers and use this final registration opportunity to register, re-register or verify their registration status.”

Alternatively, SMS your ID number to 32810, to check your registration status. Find your correct voting station by visiting www.elections.org.z.a.
