WESTVILLE Boys’ High School maintains an unbeaten waterpolo record after two successful wins against Thomas More College and DHS at the weekend.

A midweek game saw WBHS trounce Thomas More 16-2, then WBHS hosted and faced off against the strong DHS on Saturday.

WBHS started the game well scoring two goals in the first chukka, with captain Ryan Clark scoring both.

The Westville school kept up the pressure and missed a few scoring opportunities. DHS scored in the second chukka taking the score to 2-1. WBHS’s defence stood up to a DHS attack preventing any scoring chances for the visiting side. The WBHS’s players then finished the second chukka off well with two more goals from Grant Hewitt and Garrett Brown taking the home side into half time with a 4-1 lead.

The second half of the game was even with both sides missing scoring opportunities.

WBHS opened the scoring in the third chukka with captain Ryan Clark netting his third goal to put WBHS at 5-1. DHS responded straight away to close the gap 5-2. Mathew Johnson then scored for WBHS late in the third chukka and DHS once again responded to take the end of the third chukka to 6-3 in WBHS’s favour.

The fourth chukka saw one goal a piece with Ryan Clark scoring his fourth of the match. The well controlled game ended 7-4.
