Vest rouses suspicion

A man found in possession of a bulletproof vest and two unlicensed firearms was arrested recently.

A SUSPICIOUS-looking man was arrested on Friday 22 November at approximately 5pm, after he was spotted wearing a bullet proof vest.

According to Const Lungile Mbatha, of the Pinetown SAPS, the man was spotted by crime prevention officers crossing Old Main Road in Pinetown.

“The officers’ suspicions were roused when they noticed that the man was trying to hide the bullet proof vest underneath his jacket.

They searched the man and found he was wearing a police bullet proof vest, flashes with a captain’s rank, and was in possession of two firearms,” said Mbatha.

The man was arrested and taken to Pinetown SAPS for further questioning. He was charged with the possession of an unlicensed firearm.
