Win Kirk celebrates her centenarian years

Win Kirk celebrates her 100th birthday.

BORN on September 20 1913, Win Kirk turned 100 years old on Friday 20 September and celebrated with her family in England.

Win emigrated to South Africa at 70 years of age from England to join her family in Botha’s Hill.

Her daughter-in-law, Gloria Kellaway said, “Win, as she was fondly known, soon integrated into South African life, joining the Women’s Institute (WI) and serving as president of the Hillcrest Chapter.

“Win also learned to play bridge and was well known in the Hillcrest bridge circles . She lived in Botha’s Hill until she turned 90 and then returned to England for medical reasons.

“In the 20 years that Win lived in Botha’s Hill she was quite a character and loved to entertain. Cooking had been a large part of her life as she had run three successful businesses in England prior to emigrating to SA ( Kelly’s Kitchen, The Vine Hotel and Trafalgar Inn),” said Kellaway.
