FOUR men were arrested by the Bellair SAPS crime prevention unit tonight following two armed robbery incidents.
In the first incident a resident was robbed at gunpoint outside Standard Bank on Main Road just after 10am as the resident left the bank. It is believed that three gunmen held up the resident before getting into a silver Mercedes Benz and making off with an undisclosed amount of money.
Two hours later a man was robbed of R18 000 outside an FNB ATM on South Coast Road by three gunmen in a Mercedes matching the description of the vehicle used in the Malvern robbery. Several people reported having seen the Mercedes entering the Umlazi township.
Police from all over Durban South were dispatched to hunt the Mercedes gang down and after a day’s work the Bellair crime prevention unit was reported to have arrested the gunmen just after 8pm last night.
