Gogo Bag drop in Hammarsdale

Gogos in Hammarsdale were treated to a day of prayer, inspiration and food.

IT was a day of joy in Hammarsdale as the gogos in the area were treated to a celebration and Robin Hood Foundation gogo bags sponsored by NMI Durban South Motors.

NMI Durban South Motors provided enough funds for 100 heavily filled gogo bags which they helped pack themselves and provided the three bakkies that transported the gogo bags to the designated church in Hammarsdale.

The staff, together with members from The Robin Hood Foundation and story telling legend, Gcina Mhlophe congregated at the church, where they were greeted warmly by the elderly church goers.

“The entire group of staff felt truly blessed to go out and see the difference a gogo bag made to each of the grannies, ” said Rashree Moodley from NMI Durban South Motors HR Department.

Gcina Mhlophe, who grew up in the area, was instrumental in helping organise the day of celebration. On the day she and her nieces came armed with platters of food and refreshment and a message of inspiration.

“We are at a time in 2013 when we think about me, it’s not about me it’s about us. To give something to someone is to make provision for your tomorrow, ” she said. She also thanked the Robin Hood Foundation who she described as “soldiers who care about others.”

The morning began with a church service of prayer and worship and gratitude for the food and gifts they would receive.
Rev Mgudlandlu who conducted the service said, “We are humbled to have you here, we have prayed for this day to happen for so long and now it is here. It still feels like a dream.”
