CLIFFDALE Road in Assagay was reopened to the public on Thursday, 1 August.

The road was closed for four months for repairs after a sink hole caused half the road to disintegrate.

The road closure caused a lot of angst for residents and business owners as they and their customers had to use the alternate Summerveld route which added an extra 13km – 26km round trip – to their journey.

The road was re-opened in the proposed time schedule much to the relief of all affected by the road closure.

Assagay Feeds, one of the businesses affected, opened up another branch at the Heritage Market during this period to help out their customers. Mark Lotter, owner of Assagay Feeds, said “We are very grateful that it has re-opened after four long, hard months.”

Assagay Feeds will continue to operate from both their Cliffdale Road premises and the new Heritage Market shop.
