Businesses bring hope to the valley

Chonco's dream is to gather experienced businessmen to mentor, sponsor and guide small businesses and young entrepreneurs.

BUSINESSMEN from around the Valley of a 1 000 Hills met recently to discuss and create opportunities for the underprivileged at the launch of the MasterMinds Business Dinner.

MasterMinds is an initiative by a young pioneer, Siyanda Chonco (30) from KwaNyuswa.

Chonco was a semi-finalist out of more than 50 000 applicants across Sub-Saharan Africa in the 2015 Mandela Washington Fellowship for young African leaders, a flagship programme by President Barrack Obama.

Chonco’s dream is to gather experienced businessmen to mentor, sponsor and guide small businesses and young entrepreneurs.

“This initiative is meant to not only create job opportunities for the outer Durban communities, it also meant to network businesses and create a platform for trade and investment in this area.”

Chonco added that this initiative will create job opportunities in the area and skills for young entrepreneurs.

Their next event will be held in July and every businessman, big or small, is invited to be part of this initiative to share ideas to keep this project going and help the community.
