Shisanyama brings people together

A CULINARY award with a difference and the only body of their kind in South Africa, the Shisa Nyama Awards were held at People’s Park, Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday, 25 September.

The awards recognised and rewarded excellence in food, service, venue and ambience of the shisanyamas.

Founder of the awards, Michelle Lewis said the awards were aimed to drive business to the outlets and to stimulate township tourism in a real, more engaging way.

Crowds flocked to the park to witness the awards and indulge in the flame grilled meat. Cafe’ Skyzer won, One and Only Kwamashu came second and Sbu’s Lounge RSA was placed third.

Max’s Lifestyle VIP Louge Umlazi was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award and the People’s Choice Award went to Eyadini Umlazi.
