Community unites against crime

The Pinetown SAPS, Metro Police and several stakeholders were part of a motorcade around Pinetown on Saturday in support of a crime awareness campaign.

PINETOWN SAPS, Metro Police, CPF members, members of Community Safety and Liaison Department and security companies joined forces for a crime awareness campaign around the Pinetown area on Saturday, 13 June.

According to Col Clive Pillay of Pinetown SAPS, the officers provided pamphlets regarding safety hints and laws against sexual offences, which was part of their plan to create awareness during Youth Month.

The motorcade awareness campaign started at the Pinetown SAPS and moved slowly through to Pine Walk Centre, the taxi rank, Caversham Pick ‘n Pay, Nazareth, Kloof, Wyebank and then back to New Germany.

The police urged community members to take charge and report crime at the toll free number 10111, or call 031 325 5080/2/3.
