MORE than 100 cricketing enthusiasts gathered at the Highway Action Sports Arena in Pinetown to raise much needed funds for the Kloof and Highway SPCA last Friday evening.

Leigh-Anne Du Plessis, the arena manager, said the Arena hosted the event in honour of Mandela Day and to help support a local charity. “Fifteen teams joined together to take part in a few social games of cricket. Every team paid to take part in the event and a portion of the proceeds raised were donated to the SPCA,” said Leigh-Anne.

The group also held a raffle and 45 prizes were up for grabs. All of the proceeds from the raffle were donated to the NPO. “I absolutely love animals and there are cruel people out there and hopefully this will help towards the good work that the organisation does. There is a lot we, as humans, can learn from animals,” said Leigh-Anne.

The group of sporting enthusiasts raised more than R2000 and donated a large amount of cat and dog food.
