Berea West Preparatory School

‘The School on the Hill’ – a place where special childhood memories are created

Berea West Preparatory School, founded in 1971 in the leafy suburb of Westville, celebrated our 50th birthday in 2021.

We offer a sound, quality academic foundation, with the latest Coding and Robotics technology, to prepare our learners for the future. Unique hexagonal classrooms, equipped with smartboards and each having its own garden, inspire creativity amongst our learners. Small class sizes allow for individualised attention for each child. Qualified and caring teachers ensure that learning is innovative, creative, and fun. An academic support programme assists learners to reach their full potential.

A separate Grade RR and R unit is equipped with age and developmentally appropriate resources to support optimal growth and learning at this vital developmental stage.

We offer a full sporting programme, managed by trained coaches, on large green grassy fields with cricket nets and in our heated swimming pool. Our teams compete in local circuits to encourage good sportsmanship, develop good sports skills and give our future sports stars a sound foundation.

Our Principal Cindy Geldenhuys, through her wealth of experience and wisdom, inspires our team to strive for excellence. She encourages and facilitates the continuous growth and improvement of the staff, learners, and school community.

Cultural diversity is celebrated. Community and family participation in the life of the school is welcomed and encouraged. In this nurturing environment, children are free to develop, grow, learn, and be inspired. Here we work hard and play fair.
