Smart screen lights up learning

Tholuthando Pre-Primary School received a smart screen donation to help improve learning conditions.

NATIONAL and local organisations donated a smart LED screen and books to the Tholuthando Pre-Primary and Daycare Centre in Molweni.
Headed by local teacher and children’s book author Gugu Mabaso, along with the Tyron Harvner Foundation, former principal of Ukukhanya kwe-Africa, Mbambeli Blose, Jikeleza in Molweni, and the Duma Literature, this initiative was aimed at promoting the fourth industrial revolution in pre-schools in disadvantaged communities.

Mabaso said her passion for inspiring reading in children has not only led her to pen her children’s book titled Zuzu Goes to the School Library, but also improve their learning conditions. “This is to encourage other forms of learning which is through videos and digital tools. We have donated software reading materials that they will be able to access through the screens. This is to encourage the use of digital,” she said.

Further to this, Mabaso launched her book app that will also be installed on the donated screen. According to Mabaso, the app consists of questions that are related to the book. “The app is aimed at testing the readers’ knowledge of the book. performances in the app,” she said.
The donation was gladly received by Tholuthando’s principal Doli Mcanyana who extended her gratitude.
