Mariannhill CPF spends 67 minutes at Street-Wise Home

THE Mariannhill Community Policing Forum (CPF) spent their 67 minutes of service for Nelson Mandela Day painting and donating to the Street-Wise Home in Mariannhill. 

Street-Wise Home takes care of abandoned and neglected children. This is done by offering humanitarian aid to the children living on the streets, pending reconciliation with their families.

CPF chairperson Dawood Chirwa said the home was the best fit for their Nelson Mandela Day initiative as the organisation does important work in the community. 

“The home contributes to eradicating crime in the area by taking care of children who live on the streets and are abandoned. This aligns with the work we do in the community,” he said. 

The CPF brought along their youth wing that was on the ground unpacking groceries and painting the home. 

“It is important for the youth to participate in such initiatives – the aim is to keep them busy while they contribute to a good cause, “ said Chirwa.

Chirwa said they are grateful to local businesses and the community that assisted in the success of their day. 

“We approached businesses and individuals to help us with groceries and paintbrushes – we are here today representing the whole community,” he said.
