Hillcrest church supports local charities

The funds raised were donated to Philakade Home in Embo as well as the Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust respiratory centre.

THE Hillcrest Methodist Church Women’s Auxiliary hosted a jumble sale at the church on Saturday, June 29.

Among items on sale were second-hand clothes, shoes, bags and linen which were all sold at bargain prices.

Titia Vlok said that the funds raised will be donated to Philakade Home in Embo and also the Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust respiratory centre.

“We have been working very closely with these organisations to assist them in continuing with the generous work they do for the communities.”

Vlok said that the women’s auxiliary is made up of 45 senior ladies who are passionate about helping where and when they can.

“We do a lot of sewing for crèches in Embo and orphanages.”

She thanked the church members who donated all the items that they sell which helped raise funds for the two charities.

Sanelisiwe Tsinde

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
