Women’s group members walk to empower one another

The women's group is hoping to have more women joining them in raising awareness against abuse of women and children.

THE Waterlily Women’s Group’s aim is to empower women, and they recently took to the streets to walk and raise awareness on the abuse of children and women.

The ladies walked around the Kloof area and said they hope to make it a regular thing.

With the group’s motto, ‘Each time a woman stands up for herself, she stands up for every woman’, the chairperson, Ivey Govender, said they want to invite other women to join them on their walk and motivate one another.

“The women’s group also has a cancer support group, which meet once a month at Wyebank Crèche. The support group is for those fighting the disease and for families who have lost loved ones as well as for those currently in remission,” she said.
