Gear up for the Kearsney Striders 2024 Half-Marathon

Sign up to take part in the Kearsney Striders Half-Marathon and 10km races this Sunday.

GET ready to lace up your running shoes and hit the scenic routes of Botha’s Hill for the 22nd outing of the Kearsney Striders Half-Marathon on Sunday, January 21. With two challenging routes that will put your fitness to the test, this annual event promises to be a great day on the road for both runners and walkers.

Andrew Fleming, Kearsney Striders chairman, said participants can choose between the demanding 21km Half-Marathon or the scenic yet equally rewarding 10km Walk/Run.

He mentioned that both routes showcase the natural beauty of the area and will take our runners on a circular journey from Botha’s Hill.

“The half-marathon participants are, however, in for a serious challenge as they test their strength and determination on the infamous Resilience Ridge, a long, slow climb up Lello Road. Once done, never forgotten,” said Fleming.

Both races start at Kearsney College with the 21km gun going off at 06:00, followed by the start of the 10km run/walk five minutes later. There will be food and drink stands available, and Fleming encourages participants to stay for the prizegiving at 09:00.

“In addition to the excellent prize money that will go to the top performers, there are lots of lucky draw prizes up for grabs, but this year, we also have a very exciting grand lucky draw prize, a big-screen TV,” added Fleming.

Secure your spot for this exciting race by registering online at www.eventtiming.co.za before midnight, January 17. Late entries will also be accepted at the Striders Clubhouse at Kearsney College on Saturday, January 20 between 12:00 and 17:00.

Entry fees for the 21km run are R250 per person, and the 10km run/walk costs R200 per person.

The first 1 200 entries will receive event T-shirts.
