Happy Diwali to all those who celebrate

The editor and staff at Highway Mail wish all those who celebrate a Happy Diwali.

WHILE dressed in vibrant and traditional attire and enjoying feasts of many kinds, the celebration of Diwali is a major part of the Hindu faith which brings friends and families together.

This year, Diwali, also known as The Festival of Lights, will be celebrated on Sunday, November 12.

The day is synonymous with lights and candles which symbolise an inner illumination protecting from the darkness without, or the ultimate triumph of good over evil, or knowledge becoming victorious over ignorance.

The celebrations are associated with the goddess of prosperity, Lakshmi, and the god of wisdom, Ganesha.

Sanelisiwe Tsinde

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
