Upper Highway NPO hosts recyclable runway fashion show
The fashion show is the organisation's environmental education programme that they do jointly with the Kloof Conservancy.
UVEMVANE Lwe-Afrika, a non-profit organisation based in Molweni, hosted a fashion show called ‘Recycling Meets Heritage’ where children had to design traditional African clothing using recyclable materials.
The NPO run a number of community development and skills training programmes, and one of them is the exciting Eco-Clubs with three local primary schools: Bazamile, Lamula and Sizimisele.

“This is an environmental education programme that we do jointly with the Kloof Conservancy, focusing on litter reduction, river health and biodiversity protection.
“We were also honoured to have a designer who was part of the recent Durban Fashion Fair, Zama Mthembu, the founder of Royal Z Beads, as our judge,” said Uvemvane Lwe-Afrika operations and educational programmes manager, Luyanda Sikhakhane.
Bazamile Primary School took first place, with Anele Ndlovu awarded the prize for Best Dressed.
