Fun-filled fête set for October

Support Flame Lily Park’s biggest fundraiser of the year, The October Fête.

FLAME Lily Park’s biggest fundraiser for the year takes place on Saturday, October 7, and the community is encouraged to support it.

The October Fête has taken place every year and is a popular event with residents and locals who come to browse, buy and enjoy the entertainment.

Organiser of the event Jane Britz said funds raised for the event will go towards the upkeep and upgrading of the retirement home.

“The fête keeps getting better each year. This year, we will have Irish dancers, music, a tea garden, children’s entertainment and of course, numerous stalls with an assortment of items on offer,” she said.

Stallholders will have delicious food, clothing, arts and crafts, bits and bobs and much more on sale, and the various charity shops will be open, as well.

“Book and music lovers will appreciate that we have a wide range of literature available for sale in our library. There are also some old records, some of which are collectors’ items,” said Gwen Bentley, also a resident and an organiser of the fête.

“Supporters love the food stalls, and our tea garden, with all its delicious beverages and goodies, is a firm favourite. Come hungry because there will be cakes, puddings, brekkie rolls, wors rolls, pancakes and much more on sale,” said Britz.

Both organisers added that it was the time for small businesses to come to the fore and market their businesses. Stalls cost R100.

“We look forward to seeing family, friends, colleagues and the community at large on the day.”

If you would like to book a stall, call Britz on 076 609 0411.

The event starts at 08:00 and ends at 14:00. Entry is free and there is ample parking.
