Security officer shot at Westwood Mall

Paramedics responded to a shooting incident in Westville's Westwood Mall.

A SECURITY officer sustained a gunshot injury following an alleged shoot-out at Westwood Mall in Westville today (September 20).

ALS paramedics reported that they responded to multiple calls of a shooting incident just after 15:00.

“On arrival, paramedics were guided to a security officer who had sustained gunshot wounds to his legs. He was in a serious condition and was stabilised at the scene by Advanced Life Support Paramedics before being rushed through to a nearby hospital for the further care that he required,” said ALS paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson.

Jamieson reported that police were on the scene and had cornered off the area.

The police will be investigating the events leading up to the shooting.
