Several injured on Freedom Day – paramedics advise motorists to exercise caution
Patients sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate and were all stabilised on scene before transported to various hospitals.
WITH the long weekend in full swing, ALS Paramedics has advised motorists to exercise caution on the roads.
The plea comes after paramedics were kept busy with multiple accidents in and around Durban.
Yesterday on Freedom Day, several people were injured in a separate accidents in the Highway area.

Traffic was severely affected on the Durban-bound lanes of the N3, near the Mariannhill Toll Plaza following a collision involving a truck.
“Paramedics found total carnage – four vehicles and one truck were involved in the collision. Vehicles were scattered all over the highway,” said ALS spokesperson Garrith Jamieson.
Five patients sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate and were stabilised and transported to hospital.
In a separate accident which took place in the Westville area, multiple commuters were left with injuries ranging from minor to moderate when a minibus taxi overturned on the N3 in the vicinity of the Pavilion Shopping Mall in the morning.
“The injured were treated and stabilised on scene before being taken to various nearby hospitals,” said Kyle van Reenen, Emer-G-Med spokesperson.

ALS Paramedics advised motorists to leave a little earlier as although it’s a holiday for most, there might be some unforeseen traffic delays.
“Please ensure your vehicle is in good condition and is roadworthy as this plays a vital role in reaching your destination safely. Please slow down and arrive alive at your end destination,” said Jamieson.
