Therapy is the best medicine

Therapy is about to get better for the KwaZulu-Natal Cerebral Palsy as they launch their new therapy centre.

THE KwaZulu-Natal Cerebral Palsy is happy to put their facilities to good use – they launched their therapy centre on Friday, March 24. The centre is within the facility that was donated by the Sibaya Community Trust in December 2022.

The therapy centre will continue the work of the organisation as well as provide therapy.

“Patients with cerebral palsy require extensive therapy to prevent further complications and to improve their overall function. The therapy centre will be a space where a multidisciplinary team is able to treat the condition in a suitable environment. We are in the process of getting equipment that will enhance the quality of therapy provided,” they stated.

Furthermore, the new centre will provide a safe and comfortable space for patients to receive all types of therapy. The association worked together with UKZN students to ensure that the centre was ready for use.

Building up to the day of the launch, the association worked together with UKZN students to raise awareness.

“The aim was to educate the community about cerebral palsy. March is Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, and this was the ideal time to make the community more aware of the condition and to inform them about the work done at the association.”

The association will continue to improve the centre over time. “Additional therapy equipment is still required, and there will be continued efforts to obtain this.”

The public is invited to donate to the organisation in their continued efforts to lift the cerebral palsy community.
