A suspect has been detained at the Westville SAPS after being caught with drugs.

A SUSPECT was detained at the Westville Police station yesterday after he was caught with dagga. Westville communications officer Captain Elizabeth Squires said that on Monday, they were alerted of a drug deal in progress in Westville Central by Mobiclaw.

Wynand Laatz of Mobiclaw said their cameras were operating in the Westville area when they picked up suspicious activity by the suspect. “He was monitored for a while, and it was established that he was dealing with drugs as there were people walking up to him and exchanging money and what looked like drugs. The exchange is always less than 30 seconds, and multiple people did walk up to him,” he said.

Laatz said they contacted the police who responded swiftly after they gave them a detailed description of the suspect. He was allegedly found in possession of drugs and was detained in custody at the Westville police station.
