Take a ride on the Umgeni Steam Railway for the holiday season

Don't miss out on a fun family outing.

UMGENI Steam Railway (USR) is planning for a busy holiday season with festive-themed trains prior to Christmas, a Boxing Day special post-Christmas train, and a Saturday morning early January train.

Throughout the holiday, the Inchanga Craft Market will be in full swing with dozen of stalls offering family-friendly locally-sourced festive fare. There is also a food garden offering a range of light meals and snacks, a play area and picnic site.

The Inchanga Railway Museum will be open for tours as will the model railway, Thomas and Friends, be operational in the Modeller’s hut. Tours will be offered through the shed to see the 110-year-old Steam locomotive, Maureen, under repairs. There will also be tours of the vintage coaches.

Train-ride times:

Monday, Dec 26: 11:00, 13:00.
Saturday, Jan 7: 8:30, 11:00.
Sunday, Jan 8: 8:30; 11:00; 13:30; 15:30.

There may be some Open Days over the festive season, too – watch the USR social media platforms and website for more info. Inchanga Station is at 1 Station Road. Safe, guarded parking is on site.
