The Valley Trust due to hold party for 100 children

The 69-year-old NGO aims to host a memorable event for the children of the Valley of 1000 Hills.

THE Valley Trust (TVT) is due to host its annual Christmas party for 100 children on Friday, December 9. The NPO welcomes assistance with party items to make the day memorable for their small attendees.

The Christmas party will be held on the Valley Trust property in conjunction with the Halley Stott Clinic. The event is for children that benefit from the services of the clinic and the Trust’s Khula Kahle Mntwana Programme (Grow Well Child), and also for the benefit of other vulnerable children in the area.

Business development specialist and fundraiser, Pippa Whittle, encouraged Highway residents to be ‘outward-focused’ and said, “This Christmas, let’s care about those with less than us and give love and joy to the vulnerable children in the Valley of 1000 Hills.”

Whittle said that the Trust had received encouraging support for the children’s party thus far, including the sponsorship of a jumping castle by a private security company, for which the organisation was extremely grateful. Several items are still required to ensure the event’s success.

The Hillcrest Aids Centre Trust (HACT) is the official drop-off point for donations. The wishlist includes fruit, face paints, sweets, beverages, clothing for children aged between one and six, ingredients for a hot lunch, and goodie-bag items.

The Valley Trust began in 1953 as the outreach unit for the clinic established by Dr Halley Stott in the Valley of 1000 Hills. Today, the Trust continues to work to improve the well-being of rural communities through the early development of children, focused on educational and nutritional support. TVT runs several community programmes and has a clinic, charity shop, and conference centre, with overnight accommodation on Zulu Reserve Road, Botha’s Hill.
