Funfair lights up the faces of disabled children

Children at the Enthembenu School for the disabled were treated to a day of fun activities.

IT was a day filled with happiness at the Enthembenu School for the disabled as they hosted the Celebration of Life year-end party. Along with the Robin Hood Foundation, the event saw 270 children filled with gratitude as they engaged in outdoor games during the day.

Explaining on the day, Jackie Psannis of the Robin Hood Foundation said the organisation has enjoyed bringing the funfair over the past ten years now.
“ It was just incredible to watch 270 children in their playground, which turned into a magnificent funfair, having the time of their lives! There was pure joy, love, genuine gratitude, dancing, singing, ice cream licking, sliding, face-painting, balloon-animal-making, ribs-chicken-chips eating, drinking and flying going on all morning,” said Psannis.

She continued to extend her gratitude to the volunteers whose hands were on deck before and during the funfair.
“Immense gratitude goes to every one of our volunteers and sponsors on site who lifted the children in and out of the swings, flying boats, train and inflatable castle throughout the morning – there is nothing quite like seeing the massive smile on the faces of the children who are lifted out of their wheelchairs and away from their walkers and for the blind children to feel the wind beneath their feet,” she said.
She thanked the sponsors who made the day possible.
