The SPCA visits schools to educate learners

The Kloof and Highway SPCA is available for educational outreach programmes, to inform the public about animal care and rabies awareness.

INSPECTOR Israel Silevu and public relations officer for the Kloof and Highway SPCA, Janine Kyle, recently visited Etshelihle Public Primary School in Claremont.

The Kloof and Highway SPCA is an organisation that protects animals and prevents cruelty, neglect and suffering. The SPCA covers a large area, from Westville to Cato Ridge and surrounds. Their employees rescue animals from abuse and neglect and bring those responsible to justice.

The junior primary section learners attended a presentation consisting of a talk and slide show. The children were given the opportunity to ask and answer questions. Kyle and Inspector Silevu handed out booklets with information about caring for animals and rabies awareness. SPCA Animal Warrior bracelets were also distributed as a reminder to ‘Be Kind to all Animals’ and to encourage the learners to act as animal warriors in their communities by spreading information about caring for animals.

The principal, Londy Biyela, thanked Kyle and Inspector Silevu for teaching the children about the importance of caring for pets and being kind to all animals.
