New trail run comes to Kloof in September

The Kloof and Highway SPCA is set to hold their first trail run at the Glenholme Nature Reserve in September. Bring your dog and enjoy the great outdoors while supporting a good cause.

THE Kloof and Highway SPCA is holding their inaugural Trail Run on Sunday, September 11, starting at 08:00.

The 3 or 5km course will take you around the Glenholme Nature Reserve on the SPCA property in Kloof. Sponsored by Hill’s Pet Nutrition, this event is an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful grounds where the animal anti-cruelty organisation is located. Dogs are welcome on leads, and the first 200 finishers will receive medals. Prizes are on offer for the first three competitors and dogs.

Kevin Ellis has organised children’s activities, which include dancing, face-painting and games. The Hidden Treasures Marquee and various shops will be open for browsing and coffee, and food vendors will be attending the event.

Trail runners are encouraged to experience the abundant bird life and best secret trails on the estate while supporting the many animals in the Kloof and Highway SPCA’s care.

The organisation services a vast area from Westville to Cato Ridge and the surrounding areas. According to their website, the SPCA ‘covers thousands of kilometres every year to rescue animals from abuse and neglect and bring those responsible to justice’.

Date: Sunday, September 11
Time: 08:00
