WATCH: 10 suspects flee the scene after armed robbery

Police are on the hunt for 10 suspects involved in a jewellery-store robbery at a mall in Westville.

TEN suspects are on the run following an armed robbery at a jewellery store in Westville. 

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Constable Thenjisiwe Ngcobo said it is alleged that this morning at 10:00, ten armed men accosted the employees of a jewellery store who were performing their duties at a business premises in Westville. “At gunpoint, the suspects robbed them of jewellery and a box of vouchers before fleeing the scene in their getaway vehicle towards KwaDabeka. No shots were fired,” she said.

A video of the incident was posted on social media. In the video, about four suspects are seen pacing up and down the shop with firearms and bags, while packing items in the bags. A few moments later, the suspects are seen fleeing the place, and soon after, a security guard gets up from the floor, exits the shop and goes down the escalator.  

Ngcobo said a case of robbery will be opened at the Westville police station.

The centre management were not available for comment by the time of publishing.
