Upper Highway’s vintage gem draws crowds

The Scarborough Fair in Assagay offered something for all vintage and art lovers.

MORE than a thousand people enjoyed a beautiful day browsing a wide variety of interesting vintage, antique and upcycled goods at the Scarborough Fair recently.

Upper Highway residents and friends Hannah Paine and Vasan Putter put their heads together to come up with the concept of a vintage and art fair at the picturesque Macnut Farm in the Assagay Valley.

It was a collaboration between Macnut Farm and Evervas Vintage. The ethos of Evervas Vintage is rooted in the four R’s of sustainability, namely reduce, reuse, recycle and refuse.

Evervas is an inspirational movement informing consumers about the environmental and human impact of fast fashion and irresponsible wasteful attitudes.

The crowds enjoyed live music and a wide variety of food was on offer. There were also fun rides and two ponies for the children to enjoy.

It offered something for all vintage and art lovers, such as antique and retro furniture, glassware, artworks, vintage clothing, objects de art and even some scaled working models of ships such as the German battleship the Bismarck, commissioned in the late 1930’s.

Macnut Farm, a member of 1 000 Hills Community Tourism Organisation, is situated at 13 Lello Road, Assagay and is open to the public from 10am to 4pm every Sunday.
