Mrs South Africa is a journey based on pillars of self-development, community work, networking, and business and has gained the reputation of connecting like-minded women and equipping them for success in all areas of their lives.

The Pinetown resident said she started entering pageants when she was a teenager.

“I love modelling because it gives you self confidence, self development and you can empower and uplift the community which I am very passionate about,” she said.

Currently, Mthethwa-Cebekhulu runs a programme where she assist parents who have disabled children.

“Most of the parents I meet feel discouraged and others believe that giving birth to a differently-abled child is a curse which in not true.

“What I do, I counsel the parents and screen the children at a young age, other disabilities can be corrected when they are diagnosed early or if not we can point the parent in the right direction and that child can be directed in the right path,” she said.

She said she also tries and find the children a space in special needs school which can cater for that disability.

“In December I host Christmas parties. Most of the children I work with are cared for by their grandparents.

“For them, getting presents, it a big thing and puts a smile on their face,” she said.

Apart from modelling and giving back to the community, Mthethwa-Cebekhulu said she enjoys choral music, going to church and travelling.
