Upper Highway residents unite to raise funds

More than R12 500 was raised for Doodle Life Doodle Cancer, a Hillcrest NGO that assist local families affected by cancer.

COMMUNITY members showed up in numbers to help a worthy cause. Bakers and decorators did an incredible job and in one-hour produced about 800 cup cakes for children with cancer.

Donnae McReynolds, a Curro HCA mother and Michelle Haarhoff, spokesperson for Doodle Life Doodle Cancer, said they were humbled by the kindness and generosity shown by the community.

“We were able to hand over R12 500 to both cancer fundraising committees. Doodle Life Doodle Cancer is a registered Hillcrest NGO that assist local families affected by cancer,” said Smith.

The NGO was founded by Kosie Haarhoff, a cancer survivor, and his wife, Michelle Haarhoff.

Smith described the fundraiser as the shining example of community spirit and generosity.
