Runners make great strides

Just over a thousand runners participated in the Kearsney Striders race on Sunday, January 23.

HUNDREDS of runners gathered at the Kearsney College sports field to compete in the Kearsney Striders race.

There were 510 participants in the 21km run, 418 competitors in the 10 km run and 44 walkers. Stephen Owen, an honorary Kearsney Striders member, said they were excited to host the biggest road race in KwaZulu-Natal since April 2020.

“We had just over a thousand entrants, more than we, and most people in KZN running, envisaged. Thank you to everyone who entered, it was a fantastic morning,” he said.

He also conveyed a huge thank you to everyone who assisted on the day.

“An extra special thanks must go out to our sponsors, BA Builders, Key Delta, EuroSteel, Kearsney College and, of course, ND Engineering. I certainly think we have given road running a kick start, post pandemic,” he said.
