Reach your 2022 fitness goals with these January events

Do you want to get moving in 2022? Here's a list of fun community-centric events coming up in January.

FITNESS goals are often high on the list of New Year’s resolutions, but tackling these goals alone can be a tall order. That’s where we come in. From charity runs to yoga classes, we have got you covered with these upcoming events. Happy trails!

Running

A 15km road running event, Go Beyond for a Child 2022 takes place on January 9 at 06:00. Runners take off from Stella Sports Club at 175 Helen Joseph Drive, Glenwood. This event is organised by the Orcas Academy. The entry fee is R195 for the 15km, or R100 for the 5km. Yoga

The Beginners Yoga Workshop takes place at the Durban Botanic Gardens on Sunday, January 9 from 09:00 until 11:00. Udersh Mahesh, a certified Yoga instructor and human movement specialist, will teach participants an introduction to yoga asana. This will include how to execute the Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) and how to practice yoga safely and effectively. Tickets are R150 per person, or R120 per person if two people sign up together. Yoga and hike

Oneness Yoga Studio hosts Yoga and Hike Sundays on January 16 at the Paradise Valley Nature Reserve in Westville at 09:00.  This beginner-friendly yoga class will be followed by breathing exercises and a short meditation session. Participants are advised to bring their own yoga mat, water and a towel. The class costs R120 per person (excluding the nature reserve entry fee).
