Watching loved ones light up at the sight of a gift is often the best part, so why not wow them with a beautifully wrapped parcel?
With stacks of presents to wrap, a fuss-free option is a must. From DIY gift bags to out-the-box ideas and eco-friendly options, we’ve got you covered with these fun, festive, and even fabric ideas!
Forget the fuss with fabric
Say goodbye to sticky tape and torn paper with fabric wrappings. Opt for organza for a shimmery, see-through gift basket. This is a great, eco-friendly replacement for cellophane and can be re-used for another gift or upcycled as a table cloth.

Simply cut out the desired size of fabric, gather the corners and secure with a ribbon. Square-shaped objects can be wrapped in fabric much the same way as wrapping paper. Instead of sticking the corners down with tape, tie a bow on top. Hessian, linen, or printed fabric are also great options to try.
Simplici-tree
Ditch the festive prints for plain brown paper and spruce up the gift with a sprig of foliage from the garden or a red ribbon. The results are simply stunning. Plain paper is also easier to recycle than printed wrappings, making this a ‘greener’ option. To take it up a notch, use recycled paper to wrap the gift. We used a sheet of paper from an old desk calendar.
DIY gift bag
For oddly shaped gifts or a selection of goodies, a gift bag is often the easiest route. With this step-by-step guide, you can make your own bag in minutes from wrapping paper or recycled paper.
To add a festive flair, decorate with antlers and a red nose for a Rudolph-inspired bag, or sketch a simple snowman. For some family bonding time, get the children involved by asking them to draw a Christmas picture.
You will need paper, glue, scissors, a punch and string, or ribbon, to create the bag and crayons, paint or felt-tip pens to decorate it.

Step 1: Start with an A5, A4 or A3 piece of paper, depending on the desired bag size. Fold the edges of the page toward the centre, allowing one edge to overlap the other. Glue the edges together to form a paper tube.
Step 2: Fold the bottom of the tube up.
Step 3: Open up the folded section and flatten it to form two triangles.
Step 4: Fold the sides of the bag down to create a crease on each side. Glue the base of the bag shut.
Step 5: Punch holes into the top of the bag and thread through ribbon, or string, to form handles. Â Decorate!
