Get your will drafted for free at Pinetown Legal Aid SA office

National Wills Week 2021 takes place from Monday, September 13 to Friday, September 17.

ONE of the greatest risks of not having a legitimate will in place is when a family is faced with the sudden death of a family member which can result in acrimony among family members over the division of the assets of the deceased.

This can be avoided by drawing up a will for free during National Wills Week.

National Wills Week 2021 takes place from Monday, September 13 to Friday, September 17.

Legal Aid South Africa has partnered with the Law Society of South Africa and the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development and will be drafting basic wills throughout the week, as well as providing legal advice on wills.

“Legal Aid SA offices all over the country will accept clients who seek assistance with the drafting and completing of basic wills.

“Furthermore, Legal Aid SA Legal Practitioners will also be available to provide legal advice on any wills or estate queries,” said Legal Aid SA KZN provincial spokesperson, Bongani Mahlangu.

Mahlangu said without a valid will, there can be unhappiness and conflict among family members because there are no clear instructions on how to distribute assets and rightful heirs may not receive what is rightfully due to them.

“We urge community members in Pinetown and surrounding areas to utilise National Wills Week to draft wills at no cost to ensure that their assets are distributed according to their wishes,” he added.

Residents can visit the Pinetown office situated on No.1 Church Lane, 1st Floor ABSA building in Pinetown for assistance.

“We will not allow walk-ins but the public need to book an appointment due to restrictions. They should contact 031 719 2700,” added Mahlangu.

The public is also advised to adhere to lockdown rules as no one will be granted access to Legal Aid SA offices without a face mask. Social distancing rules also apply.
