Foreigner arrested in Cowies Hill for dealing in drugs

Police found 80 loops of cocaine with a street value of R40 000.

A 45-year-old man, who is reported to be living in the country illegally since 2014, is set to appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on July 28, for dealing in drugs and contravening the Immigration Act.

KZN police spokesperson, Capt Nqobile Gwala said the man was arrested in Cowies Hill yesterday, July 27 by the Provincial Organised Crime and Narcotics Unit.

Gwala reported that the man was arrested during an intelligence driven operation which was conducted by police. 

“During the operation, police proceeded to the suspect’s residence on Radwin Street, Cowies Hill. A warrant of arrest was obtained from court before police made their way to the identified house,” said Gwala.

During the search, police found 80 loops of cocaine with a street value of R40 000. “The suspect was placed under arrest for dealing in drugs,” added Gwala.
