Durban Chamber of Commerce issues warning amid protests

Business owners are urged to remain vigilant.

THE news of Jacob Zuma’s imprisonment is believed to have sparked volatile protest action across the eThekwini Municipality and the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry has urged business owners to remain vigilant.

The President of the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry NPC, Nigel Ward, said it has received reports of disruptive groups shutting down businesses from KwaDukuza Municipality to the eThekwini Municipality.

“We are taking the necessary steps and working closely with law enforcement to arrest the matter. We encourage business owners to remain on high alert and ensure risk mitigation measures are in place,” said Ward.

He urged business owners to report all disruptions to business operations to the nearest SAPS station.
