Westville Senior’s ‘shelfless’ act

Through its second term outreach initiative, Westville Senior Primary School received more than 600 donations of books for a school in need.

IN a move to help boost the library at Junagarth Road Primary School, the learners at Westville Senior Primary School (WSPS) held a book drive and were able to collect more than 600 children’s publications.

The appeal for good quality books went out at the start of the second term as part of the outreach project as WSPS wanted to give the learners at Junagarth a much-needed boost in reading materials.

“Our school was overwhelmed by the generosity of our parent body. Among the donations were numerous popular titles such as Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Harry Potter, as well as books by sought after authors such as David Walliams,” said the school’s Cheryl Nyman.

Namenyi Project Hope, a charity organisation, collected the donation from WSPS and handed it over to the happy and thankful staff at the south Durban-based school. In addition to this, WSPS also donated a large box of books to help boost the library for the learners at Dawede Primary School.
