Westville learners prepare sarmies for less privileged

500 sandwiches are prepared every Wednesday and distributed to various shelters and informal settlements.

STAR College continues to instil the value of giving in their learners as every Wednesday, the girls college prepares sandwiches for the less privileged.

The sandwiches are then distributed to various shelters and informal settlements.

Educator, Nazneen Bashir said the initiative started after they noticed the impact of Covid-19.

“Most people lost their jobs and struggle to put food on the table. This is our way to try and help where we can,” she said.

Each Wednesday, Bashir said they make 500 sandwiches.

“We are thankful to the learners who take the time to prepare the food, to the parents for their sponsorships and the educators,” added Bashir.
