Tragic death of canines lead to KZN K9 unit’s appeal for donations

KZN SAPS are calling for donations of suitable dogs to increase the operational capacity of its K9 Unit.

FOLLOWING the tragic deaths of two SAPS canine dogs, the KZN SAPS is experiencing a shortage of these brave and loyal four-legged crime fighters.

Subsequently, the SAPS has appealed for donations of puppies who could be trained as dedicated K9 members.

According to KZN SAPS spokesperson, Colonel Thembela Mbele, canines play a huge role in fighting crime in the province.

“The unit has a shortage of dogs since two canines were shot dead while fighting criminals in Maqongqo on 14 June. German shepherd and Rottweiler dogs between the ages of one and three will be appreciated,” she said.

If you have dog to donate, contact Colonel Naidoo on 082 417 6168 or 031 312 1499.
