Statue wows Kloof community
Ray Ray has captured many hearts and follows the Covid-19 protocols by wearing his mask.
RAY Ray, a concrete statue that is being housed on a Kloof property, has quickly obtained a celebrity status and has captured many hearts.
Apart from being well-dressed, Ray Ray also follows the Covid-19 protocols by wearing his mask.

At first glance, the statue resembles a human which can be misleading as while approaching the Roos house, one waits patiently for Ray Ray to make his way towards the gate.
He wears a light blue check shirt, short, socks, takkies and is seen holding a sugar cane.
His special characteristics are his eyes which are made of marbles which glow at night.
During the recent heavy rains, owner of the house, Cindy Roos laughed and said she received many calls from people accusing her of being cold-hearted for making her gardener work on such a cold, wet day.
Roos said Ray Ray, who has been warmly welcomed, has been with her for a couple of months.
“The reason I contacted the Highway Mail was to formally introduce him and and share his background as many people are interested in his origin.
The owner of the house in Winston Road said the statue was given to her by a friend who emigrated.
“He used to work at one of the biggest sugar companies in Mozambique and when he left, the staff made this statue for him as a farewell gift and a token of appreciation.
“His children called him Vovô which means grandfather in Portuguese,” said Roos.
The excited Roos said it such a pleasure having Ray Ray around. “He is our knight in shining armor, we feel so safe with him around,” she said.
