Mom and daughter kidnapped and murdered, suspect appears in court
According to police, more arrests are imminent.
A 41-YEAR-OLD man appeared in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 9 April on two counts of murder and kidnapping.
The suspect was arrested on Wednesday, 7 April for the double murder.

According to KZN police spokesperson, Col Thembeka Mbele, police received a complaint of a double murder along Lwandle Drive in KwaDabeka near Umngeni River on 6 October 2020.
“On arrival, police found the bodies of two female victims packed in a big suitcase and dumped. The bodies were later identified as a 36-year-old mother, Simangele Simamane and her daughter, Sbongakonke Mthembu (13).”

Mbele reported that the victims had multiple injuries on the bodies and their necks were tied with a rope.
“The mother sustained open wounds on the back of the head, multiple injuries on the face, bruises on the neck and burnt wounds on her left leg and body. Her daughter had bruises on the neck and a stab wound on her left hip. It is alleged that the victims were kidnapped before they were killed,” said Mbele.
Charges of murder and kidnapping were opened at KwaDabeka police station for investigation. On Wednesday, 7 April, police officers from the Provincial Tracking Team together with Crime Intelligence received information that a suspect, who was sought for murder, was back from hiding and was roaming the streets of KwaMashu.
“They proceeded to his place of residence in KwaMashu and he was arrested. The investigation is still ongoing and more arrests are imminent,” added Mbele.
The accused has been remanded in custody until 16 April.
