Mariannhill murder suspects escape police custody

The suspects are wanted for five counts of murder, attempted murder, and possession of illegal firearms and ammunition.

DURBAN Central detectives are appealing to the community for assistance in locating two murder suspects who escaped from custody, on 26 March 2021, at Durban High Court.

Provincial spokesperson for SAPS, Colonel Thembeka Mbele said the suspects are wanted for crimes committed in Mariannhill in October 2017.

“Mboniseni Shozi (40) and Thobani Shozi (26) are facing five counts of murder, attempted murder and possession of illegal firearms and ammunition,” she added. 

“A warrant of arrest was issued by the court for both escapees. The members of the public are advised not to attempt to apprehend the escapees, but to contact the police,” said Mbele.

SAPS urges anyone with information of the suspects’ whereabouts to contact Detective Sergeant Mhlongo on 084 0892 407 or Sergeant Mzimela on 082 458 5297 or to call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
