THREE learners from Westville Boy’s High School placed in the top ten in the province for Department of Basic Education class of 2019.
The school’s ‘ Dux for 2020, Shaheen Govender, excelled with his second position in the province, along with runner-up Dux, Hemal Harkhu who placed fifth and Kiarin Naidoo was placed seventh in KZN.

The three were also in the top five for the district.
The 219 Westville Boys’ High School 2020 candidates achieved a remarkable set of results, with 433 subject distinctions, a 96 per cent pass rate and 93,6 per cent obtaining a Bachelor or Diploma pass.
Nine boys achieved eight or more distinctions, 20 boys achieved seven distinctions or more, while 25 boys achieved six distinctions or more. 55 achieved three or more distinctions and 88 achieved a 70per cent aggregate or higher.
“We are so proud of our Matric Class of 2020 who responded incredibly well to a vastly different learning environment. We salute our boys for their collective and individual achievements, they have once again remained true to our Motto of Incepto Ne Desistam (May I not shrink from my purpose), and produced a great set of results,” said headmaster, Graham Steele.
Keshav Maharaj achieved nine distinctions. Satheesh Bissessur, Justin Booyens, Vaishanth Chami, Hemal Harkhu, Kiarin Naidoo, Craig Reid and Muhammad Salajee passed with eight distinctions.

Suhail Aboobaker, Hamza Ahmed, Kesharv Arjun, Zuhayr Asmal, Christopher Deufel, Dylan du Plessis, Reshlan Govender, Shaheen Govender, Yusuf Mahomed, Livashan Moodley, Luke Pillay and Priyal Vanmari achieved seven distinctions.
Mohammed Ballim, Keenan David, Dino Gironi, Daniel Randell and Ryan Scott achieved six distinctions:
Kiarin Naidoo achieved 100 per cent for Accounting.
