Rescued duiker on road to recovery at CROW

The non-government organisation said the duiker will be released in the next few months.

THE baby duiker, that was rescued from hunting dogs by a young boy from Botha’s Hill last year, is rehabilitating well at CROW (Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife) and is on the cusp of being weaned off of milk.

CROW’s spokesman, Alexandra Kögl, said the duiker, now named Layla, has grown into a strong and beautiful little antelope and has befriended an impala named Mia.

“The action of one brave boy has had a lasting effect over months on the life of an animal, who is now able to prosper and return to the wild. Thank you to all you animal champions out there who rescue injured, displaced or orphaned wildlife. We could not do what we do without you,” said Kögl.
