eThekwini Municipality warns of Metro Police job scam

There is no recruitment currently taking place, confirmed the eThekwini Municipality.

THE eThekwini Municipality has warned the public about a bogus job advertisement for Metro Police circulating on social media platforms.

City spokesperson, Msawakhe Mayisela, said the suspects involved in the scam were ‘unscrupulous individuals’.

“There is no recruitment that is taking place and we call upon the members of the public to assist in identifying these unscrupulous individuals hell-bent to fan disinformation to face the full might of the law,” he said.

The warning comes just after Westville SAPS sent out a warning regarding the ‘dead domestic worker’ scam resurfacing

Westville SAPS communications officer, Capt Elizabeth Squires said they have received numerous cases of how a victim is contacted by an alleged family member of the domestic worker asking for financial assistance for funeral arrangements.

“The ‘family member’ is quite convincing by knowing the deceased’s personal particulars,” said Squires
