The municipality apologised for the inconvenience and said the situation was beyond the city's control.

THE eThekwini Municipality reported that load shedding was the reason residents in some parts of Durban were without water at the weekend.

“Due to load shedding, Umgeni Water, an entity that supplies the city with water, is battling to pump it to numerous eThekwini reservoirs,” said eThekwini Municipality spokesperson, Msawakhe Mayisela.

“As a result, many households are bearing the brunt of this situation beyond the city’s control. eThekwini sincerely apologises for this inconvenience. We have since mobilised water tankers to all areas affected as a temporal measure,” he said.
