Bush baby brothers rescued in Westville

The baby brothers were found at the base of a tree in the Westville area recently.

CROW has admitted two new patients, Jim and Dwight, that were found abandoned and covered in fleas and fly eggs at the base of a tree in Westville.
“We’re not sure what happened to their parents, but these two brothers were in need of a serious clean and some food,” said the Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife’s (CROW) communications officer, Alex Kogl.
Using mascara wands, the dedicated team at the local non-profit organisation cleaned off the fleas, eggs and maggots and then applied topical cream to the sores on the bush babies.

“Bushbabies are usually only active at night and spend their days holed up in the hollows of trees. The tiny claw protruding from their one toe is used to scratch out any gum weeping from trees,” said Kogl.
Kogl said the pair would be given pure carrot juice to begin with and then would be eased onto milk. She asked the community to consider donating pure carrot juice to the organisation to help care for the two bush babies.
